Beginning iPhone 3 Development is Available

Just got the word that the new edition of Beginning iPhone 3 Development is now available. This is the updated version of our first book, not the new book that covers intermediate and SDK-3 specific topics.

Hi,
I loved the first edition of your book, so I bought the new eBook. However, it doesn't seem to discuss any 3GS features such as video or using the compass. It also doesn't discuss Peer to Peer networking, Maps API or Push Notifications, which are new in 3.0.

Will these features be added? I'm a bit disappointed with this update to an otherwise amazing book.

You should read this: http://iphonedevelopment.blogspot.com/2009/06/beginning-iphone-3-development.html

The short version is that the new material is going to be covered in a new book that's being written now.

Sorry for the confusion :(

Ah, that explains a lot! Thanks for the information, I'll definitely buy the new book once it's available. The revised eBook was only $14 so it's no big deal.

Jeff,

Any reason why your book hasn't been available as a kindle book? I bought a Kindle DX and have happily moved my tech library digital, but I'm missing your awesome book! Please make it available to the Kindle, there are many Apress books on Kindle. Pweeez?

PS. I know I can buy the PDF from Apress, but I don't find the PDF's as easy to read as the .mobi editions, and I'd prefer to have it within the Amazon distribution system.

I honestly don't know anything about a Kindle version. I'll try to get an answer from someone at Apress.

Hi Jeff, I'm quite interested in getting this book! Do you know if there is / will be soon a UK distributor? Or am I best just to import it through Amazon US?

Cheers,
James

The first edition was available in the U.K. I believe. Apress is based out of London. But I can't say for sure, as I don't have any knowledge about the distribution process. I'll see if I can find an answer.

Yep! I saw the first edition on amazon.co.uk, but not the new one (yet). Thanks for looking into it!

According to Apress' UK distributor, the book should be available there in two days. I don't know if that means on the shelves or in the warehouse or what, but that's the answer I got.
